Antique Staffordshire Hearty Good Fellow Toby Jug Character Pitcher

Antique Staffordshire pottery toby jug modeled as the character “Hearty Good Fellow,” depicting a gentleman standing against a tree trunk while holding a pipe and small pitcher. The figure is decorated in brightly colored glazes with a red coat, striped waistcoat, and pink breeches, with the title plaque molded to the front of the base. Character jugs of this style were produced in the Staffordshire region of England and were inspired by earlier 18th and 19th century tavern figures and drinking song characters.
